Re: my first cichlid aquarium setup
To be honest, the dimensions of the tank would be useful to know, but given it's a 29 gallon, I think it's on the small side for many Malawi species. Yellow labs can get pretty big with proper care, so you might want to consider Saulosi instead - the males and females have distinct differences ...

Re: Seeking a change
Blown away by your tank setup, finmaster5. I took yesterday off and barely managed a water change - you've definitely one-upped me.
The tank's looking fantastic, and those powerheads will be a huge help with circulation around the rock piles. I'm curious, is the tank on a floating base, not ...

finding the best aquatic shops in surrey
Hi everyone,
I'm on the hunt for a reliable Malawi breeder in Surrey or Croydon, or a good aquatics shop that specializes in Malawis. So far, my search has been pretty underwhelming. Lynwood Aquatics does have a decent selection, but the sizes are quite small and the prices are steep. I'm still ...

Re: about stevenage specialist aquatics
Yeah they're still based in Crews Hill. I don't recall everything they've got in stock, but they usually have some pretty nice fish. They occasionally get something a bit different in too, which is always worth a look.
Just got off the phone with Rick and I'm really looking forward to heading ...

Re: about stevenage specialist aquatics
Does anyone know if they're still operating from Crewes Hill, their website seems outdated, no current stock list available.
Went out to SSA yesterday and was really let down - they weren't open despite the advertised hours. Had a chat with the shopkeeper next door and he said the owner's a bit ...

Congrats on the new tank, mate. Can't wait to see the setup, when's the delivery expected and when can we get some pics?

Re: keeping electric blue fish in a community tank?
Considering your community's dynamics, a sizable school of a peaceful species could work well. The gold gourami's temperament is worth researching, as some gouramis can be territorial. However, a dwarf species like the dwarf neon rainbowfish could be a great fit. They often go unnoticed in stores ...

Re: keeping electric blue fish in a community tank?
I'd advise against adding the electric blue johanni to your tank, gunsmoke. Malawis like them have specific requirements that wouldn't mesh with your community setup.

Re: finding a more affordable catfish option
Honestly, I'd say save your money and skip the hassle of filtration for one. I've got a bn plec in my tank, same situation as yours, and to be honest, I hardly ever see the thing.
