Seeking a change

Post by finmaster5 »

yesterday's tank setup was 8ftx2x2.5, never really liked it though

skipping the hard part, didn't take pics

filled the tank with one side done, used rock for this part

close-up of the rock looks like this

full tank shot

all pics taken with my phone.

comments and advice welcome

added all the rock, doesn't look like much but it's around 400kgs, probably more, my back is killing me from lifting it all in.

better not collapse or i'm in trouble.

Blown away by your tank setup, finmaster5. I took yesterday off and barely managed a water change - you've definitely one-upped me.

The tank's looking fantastic, and those powerheads will be a huge help with circulation around the rock piles. I'm curious, is the tank on a floating base, not touching the stand? I'm planning to add rocks to my setup today, but I'm a bit concerned about the weight on a floating base - 400KG is a massive load, by the way.

What's the plan for stocking? I'm really looking forward to seeing this tank come together.

That's a great setup. So, what's the deal with the tank underneath, is that a sump or something? And what happened to all your fish, did you rehome them or are they just hiding somewhere?

All the fish are in the shed till I sell 'em. Yeah, there's a 5ft sump underneath the stand, nice and hidden away. Stocking plans, not too sure yet, still thinking on it. The tank's on a steel frame, then the whole thing's encased in the woodwork, so it's pretty sturdy.

Night shot of the tank now,

Got some coflake sand in today, looks great.

Refilled the tank twice with ice-cold water after stripping it down, and after all that, I found this little fella who somehow got sucked into the sump. Managed to survive the sump pump kicking back in, and no major damage done.

A tiny baby bristlenose, what a relief.
