Re: is my discus sick or just shy?
Could be stress from the move. How'd you acclimate them? Drip or float? Either way, if they're eating and no visible issues, I'd lean toward shyness. But keep an eye out for rapid gilling or faded colors—those are red flags. Also, that pleco might be bothering them at night. Bristlenoses can get ...

Re: Is it bad to dose before bedtime?
I'm of the opinion that dosing time isn't that crucial - fertilizers hang around in the water till the plants need 'em. That being said, I gotta advise you to ditch the Excel ASAP - I think it's a recipe for disaster when it comes to your fish's health. Go easy on the fertilizers, I'm a firm ...

Is it bad to dose before bedtime?
I'm running a 10-gallon planted tank with anubias barteri, a mystery anubias, unknown sword, jungle vallisneria, and ludwigia repens. My fertilization routine includes Seachem Iron, Flourish, and Flourish Excel on a pretty basic schedule. Thing is, I'm not perfect - sometimes I forget to dose in the ...

Has my jungle vallisneria stopped growing for a reason?
I had a crazy growth spurt with my vallisneria about 5 months ago - it was sending out new runners every week. I ended up with too many, so I trimmed it back, but I only cut where the runners were coming out, not the leaves. Now it's been 4 months and I haven't seen any new growth - no new runners ...

Re: Stocking help for 125g Discus tank!
I think a school of black neons should be fine. If they do end up being too much, which I highly doubt, you could always bump up the water changes to 4 times a week for a bit.

I have to say, hearing that my stock is thriving with people, it's the best feeling.

If you can hold off, I'd appreciate it if you could wait till later this afternoon before placing your order. I'll be in touch by 5 pm central time, one way or another.

I'll be finding out today if I'll be able to start shipping again soon. This is just as frustrating for me as it is for those waiting to buy my stock. I really dislike having to put people off like I've had to do lately. Please keep your fingers crossed for me.

I'd love to get a clearer picture - what's the tank size, and how many discus are we talking about here? Are there other fish in the mix? Is the tank planted or bare bottom?

Re: New Tank Mates?
I've had experience with both Discus and Congo tetras, and I gotta say, they don't quite mix well. The Congo tetras' high energy can be overwhelming for the Discus. Considering your tank setup and the Discus' gentle nature, I think a school of peaceful Rams would be a great ...
