Stocking help for 125g Discus tank!

Post by SunKnot »

Hey all, long time lurker, first time poster here. I've got a 125g that's been up and running for about 7-8 months now, stocked with 9 Discus and a GBR, and a FX5. They're all super happy and healthy, eating well, and I do 50% water changes every 3 days. I've been trying to find some schooling fish to add for background movement and I think I've settled on black neons - I love my Discus and don't want to stress them out by overloading the bioload. Can I get some insight on whether these fish would be a good fit and if my tank can handle the school without causing issues for my Discus? Also, I'd love to add some cories, but they're a second priority if I'm already pushing the limits. Thanks in advance for your wisdom, really appreciate it!

I think a school of black neons should be fine. If they do end up being too much, which I highly doubt, you could always bump up the water changes to 4 times a week for a bit.
