I'm a total disaster, it seems. I've managed to mess up something as simple as Christmas moss.belleora wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2024 8:25 amThe proper stuff is aquarium safe, I've been told. Won't touch a cheap, unknown brand, no idea what's in it. But the real deal, it's fine. Cures on contact with water and was meant to keep wounds closed, after all. I'm useless at tying plants on, so glue's my go-to.florap wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2024 6:48 amI've got a solution for you. When I attach Christmas moss, I find super glue works best. Remove the decor from the water first, then glue the moss on. It's a lot less hassle than trying to get it to stick with fishing line or thread.kingrise wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2024 1:54 am I'd start by trimming off the dead bits, then you can attach it to whatever you like - driftwood, decor, doesn't matter. Superglue, fishing line or thread will all work, personally I think black marine-grade thread is the way to go.
Enjoy!

If it's falling apart, superglue is the way to go. Remove the decor, glue the moss on.

I'd say go for a cyanoacrylate gel, it's what you're looking for.belleora wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2024 8:25 amThe proper stuff is aquarium safe, I've been told. No, just a little joke about me, myself, and I having a discussion about being weird.
Re: Growing christmas moss: tips and advice
I'm stuck without glue or wire, so thought I'd float it for now till I get some tomorrow... @florap, hope this doesn't cause any issues... Don't want the fish mistaking it for food and getting sick.

Profile pic change time indeed
Re: Growing christmas moss: tips and advice
I'm more of a fishing line fan, personally. Christmas moss hasn't taken too well to super glue methods in my experience - maybe I just got unlucky. I've got it thriving in my 20-gallon tank, though, and I used fishing line to tie it to my driftwood.
Re: Growing christmas moss: tips and advice
I thought I'd float it till I get supplies tomorrow, but that didn't quite work out. @florap I'm with you on this, I'm hesitant about the superglue, and I definitely don't want my fish mistaking the moss for a snack and getting sick.

You caught me. Was thinking of a change, how'd you guess?
