Re: Has anyone tried to breed Albino Platinums?
Hi Al, Thanks for the well wishes. I'm trying not to get too excited just yet, as we all know how unpredictable discus breeding can be. I appreciate the advice on keeping the water clean - that's a given for me. However, I'm intrigued by your suggestion to "play with color LED lights." Could you elaborate on what you mean by that? I'm not sure how it would impact the spawning process. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, and I'll definitely keep them in mind. Rufus

I recently picked up some multi-color RGB LED flexible strips with a remote on ebay. These strips have an adhesive back and can be easily applied. What I like about them is that I can change the color of the lights and dim them as needed. I'm thinking of experimenting with different colors to see if it helps my discus stand out or if it has a darkening effect on them.

Hi Al, thanks for the tip. I've actually got a similar setup with my Remote Satellite fixtures - they let me switch colors and dim or enhance the lights for all my discus. I can even make them darker if needed. Got them from Ken's, recommended by Pat, and I'm really loving them. Worth the investment in the long run, even if they were a bit pricey. Now I can control everything from my chair - it's a game-changer.

Hi Al, I appreciate your suggestion on experimenting with color LED lights. I've actually got Remote Satellite fixtures on my tanks, which allow me to adjust colors and dim or enhance them as needed. I can even make my discus appear darker if I want to. I'd love to know more about the specific RGB settings you've found to work well for achieving that platinum albino look, especially since I've got some spawning going on and I've got an RGB setup with dimming and white balance capabilities.
