Re: seeking advice on percula clownfish care

Hey, you're probably better off posting in the saltwater section, they'll know what to do.

Re: Canister filter hose length for intake and return

Hose length impacts both flow and maintenance. Longer hoses accumulate more debris, requiring frequent cleaning. For a 75 gallon, I'd keep extensions under 12 inches. Also, ensure the hoses aren't kinked, as that'll further reduce efficiency.

Re: care and keeping of pygmy angels

We've had an eibli angel in our 30gal reef setup and so far, so good - he's not been too fussed about nipping at coflakes, as long as he's well fed, that is. He does have the odd nibble now and then, but nothing too serious. It really does come down to the individual fish, some just have a taste for ...

Re: Poll on ocellaris clownfish

I voted no, mainly because while they might be alright initially, clowns do grow to a considerable size and are quite energetic. As fully grown adults, I think they'd ultimately find the space a bit restrictive.

Re: information on watanabei angelfish

I was told it was, but honestly, it doesn't really apply here. Saltwater fish are way more sensitive to water conditions, and they usually need a lot more space than freshwater fish. Their natural environment is just so different, you know? It's not like there's a set rule or anything, you gotta ...

Re: Identifying monti black bugs

I caught sight of the black bugs in my tank last night, along with red bugs on my Acropora, and I decided to take action. I dosed Sentinel today, and I'm pleased to report that both the black bugs and red bugs vanished within 5 hours. I did notice a decline in my pod population, but given that I ...

Re: Identifying monti black bugs

A mate of mine locally had a similar issue with black bugs, almost from the tank's inception, nearly three years ago. His solution, inadvertently, was having a silver belly and 6 line wrasse that kept the black bug population in check.

He experienced some minor tissue recession on his montiporas ...

Re: Identifying monti black bugs

That you Mo from your avatar, didn't bother searching, not much to find anyway. Thanks for the input, both of you.

I've got a trio of Halicoeris wrasse - Melanurus, Richmondi, and a Yellow Canary - plus a Jewel, but none of them show any interest in the black bugs. To be honest, I had a bit of a ...

One little bump, hoping someone might've come across something similar and can offer some insight.

Re: Identifying monti black bugs

Not a peep. I know the post is a beast, but I had to lay out the whole story to get my point across. I'm hoping someone who's dealt with this before might see some similarities and think these little blighters aren't actually predators. If they were, I'd have lost all my monti by now - their numbers ...
