I'm looking for opinions and experiences with Pygmy Angelfish in a reef setup. Have you guys had any issues with them nipping at corals? I'm considering adding some to my tank, but I want to know if it's a problem I'll encounter.
I've got a 55-gallon tank that I'm planning to convert to a reef aquarium. Any advice on which species to look at, or which ones to avoid? Thanks.

Re: care and keeping of pygmy angels
Some will, some won't - it really depends on the individual fish. I've heard Flame Angels can be notorious for nipping at corals, but then again, there are people on this forum who have them in a reef tank with no issues. My personal favorite dwarf angel is the Coral Beauty, and they're generally less prone to coral nipping, although some still might do it. That's about all I can share on this, hopefully someone else with more experience can chime in on reef-safe Pygmy Angel options.
Re: care and keeping of pygmy angels
We've had an eibli angel in our 30gal reef setup and so far, so good - he's not been too fussed about nipping at coflakes, as long as he's well fed, that is. He does have the odd nibble now and then, but nothing too serious. It really does come down to the individual fish, some just have a taste for coflakes, others don't.

Thanks for the input everyone, I think I've got a good idea now.
