Re: discus aggression during feeding

My discus get super aggressive when I feed them, especially with beef heart. They chase each other around the tank and nip fins. Tank is 75 gallons, 6 discus, 2 angelfish, sand substrate, planted with Amazon swords. Water params are good, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 10 nitrate. Temp at 84F, weekly 50 ...

Re: why are my discus chasing each other?

lol mine turn into goth fish when they mad. just give em time. they'll figure it out.

Hah, 'goth fish' is spot on. But seriously, sealine, if the aggression doesn't settle in a week or two, you might need to separate the main instigator. Had to do that once with a particularly feisty male—gave ...

Your params look solid, but I'd bump water changes to 30% twice a week to reduce stress. Also, try adding more hiding spots—maybe some ...

Re: Future Discus Setup

Purigen does not remove nitrates, but it will remove the tannins you desire. Water changes are the most effective way to remove nitrates. An efficient algae scrubber can work as well but it doesn't reduce or remove bacterial counts which contribute to poor health ...

Re: Discus Trace

I've actually used Discus Trace, it's a Seachem product that's supposed to add beneficial trace elements for Discus. Initially, I was skeptical, but I decided to give it a try. Upon closer inspection, I discovered it contains copper sulfates, which is a major concern for me since I ...
