My tanks are pretty root-heavy, sand along the back and sides, with a bunch of different plants. I've got rocks, caves, ornaments, and wood in the middle, all with Java fern attached.
I like to replant the Java fern babies on different pieces of bog wood, caves, rocks, and so on. When I'm cleaning ...

I'm curious to know if there's a UK equivalent for the Liquinox chelated iron I've been using. Anyone have a go-to source across the pond?

Re: When is a garden too densely planted?
I've always leaned towards using plastic or ceramic caves over real rocks in my tanks, mainly because I don't want to sacrifice valuable swimming space. To me, it seems like the 20-gallon tank could still fit a few more plants, but the 3-gallon betta tank looks pretty full, if you ask me.

Not a fan of Salvinia, I've got plenty of Frogbit and Water Lettuce, they're doing the job for me.

Re: How many plants are needed for a silent cycle?
Haven't used Wisteria myself but came across something interesting - apparently, it can just float on the surface. Is that right? If so, do you think it'll be more effective for cycling when left on the surface of the tank?

Re: new to aquariums: urgent help needed for first fish tank
Hi everyone, just joined this forum and I'm excited to get some advice. We've recently bought a second-hand fish tank and I'm a bit unsure about how to proceed. The seller reckoned it's a 200 litre tank, but I've measured it and it's 100cm wide, 50cm high and 40cm deep.
There's around 30-35 ...

Re: new to aquariums: urgent help needed for first fish tank
Don't touch a thing for now. The grime on the glass walls, the filter, the sand, the rocks, ornaments, and plants - it's all home to beneficial bacteria that's keeping your fish alive. Leave everything as is, for now.

Re: How to re-landscape your space
The tank's coming along. Adding a root wood piece would really help fill that empty space on the left. It's still looking a bit bare, but it's a step in the right direction.
