Farewell to the beloved bilbo
Farewell to the beloved bilbo
Sadly, I lost my finned friend Bilbo today. I'm pretty sure it was those harlequin rasboras I added to the tank that did him in. Right after I got them, three rasboras and a Cory kicked the bucket too - the Cory had a bad case of popeye, but the others didn't show anything. It's just Bilbo now, and I'm really gonna miss him.
Re: Farewell to the beloved bilbo
My condolences for your loss, finnley - really sorry to hear about Bilbo.

My condolences on losing Bilbo. I'm really sorry to hear that. Did you do any emergency water changes after the issues started? What are your current water parameters looking like?
Re: Farewell to the beloved bilbo
No symptoms, just gone. Water's fine, all parameters are in check - pH 7.5, ammonia's zero, nitrates and nitrites are all zero too.

I think bettas can be a bit delicate in higher pH waters. Sorry again for your loss, finnley.finnley wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2025 5:07 pm Sadly, I lost my finned friend Bilbo today. Sorry to hear about your loss. To avoid this in the future, you should consider quarantining new fish before adding them to your community tank. This can help prevent the spread of disease or parasites. If you don't have a separate quarantine tank, you can easily set up a temporary one using a plastic container. You'll just need a few basic pieces of equipment - a heater, an air pump, and a filter. A sponge filter would work well for this.
