Exactly. Excel can help, but it's not a fertilizer. If you're gonna spend money, get the right stuff. Your plants will thank you.

Eco-complete should have some nutrients, but it's not enough long-term. I'd also recommend root tabs if your swords aren't perking up. I use API root tabs in my 40 gallon and the difference is night and day.

If you're gonna add snails, make sure your tank's cycled. They're sensitive to ammonia spikes.

Dwarf Sagittaria could work if you want a grassy look. It spreads but not too aggressively in a small tank.

Soft corals are your best bet in a small tank. Xenia, Kenya Tree, and Leathers are forgiving. Just watch for allelopathy—some release toxins that can mess with other corals if the tank's too cramped.
