Re: Anyone Had Luck with Red Plants?
Don't sleep on potassium either. My AR Mini was struggling till I started dosing K. Now it's redder than my cherry shrimp. Also, how old is your light? LEDs lose intensity over time.

Yeah, and don't forget to dose some liquid ferts if you're gonna go heavy on plants. They'll need the extra nutrients to thrive.

Re: Will plants disrupt new tank cycling?
Yo, plants are gonna be your besties during cycling. They suck up the bad stuff and give your tank a more natural feel. Just don't add too many at once, or it might get sketchy.

Yeah, lighting can def affect their energy levels. I keep mine on a 6-hour cycle with a dimmer period in the middle. Seems to keep 'em from going full turbo mode all day. Also, how many plants you got in there? More plants can give 'em more stuff to explore, which might spread out the craziness.

Yo, those little dudes are just living their best life. Silver Tips are known for being super active, almost like they're showing off. If they're eating well and not showing signs of stress, like clamped fins or hiding, you're golden. What's your feeding routine like?

Re: keeping discus in a community tank
Thanks for the tips, everyone. I've got sand substrate and a Fluval FX4 filter. Lighting is moderate, 6 hours a day. The Angelfish are about a year old, so might be sketchy. Gonna try adding one Discus first to test the vibe.

Yep, sand's a pain like that. I switched to bare bottom for my Discus, way easier to keep clean. Just saying.

Re: ammonia spikes in discus tank fix
Yo, try adding some floating plants like frogbit. They suck up ammonia like crazy. And maybe chill with the bloodworms, they're sketchy for water quality. Pellets are way cleaner.

Re: Nitrogen cycle won't start
I'm afraid you might've jumped the gun a bit. Fishless cycles can drag on for up to 12 weeks, and it looks like you introduced the discus way too early. Now, the fish waste is kickstarting the cycle, which isn't ideal for the poor guys - they'll likely suffer from ...
