Re: Xenia pulsing or not, is it normal?

Good point on iodine. Also, how often are you doing water changes? If it's been a while, a fresh batch might perk them up.

Mine did the same thing when I switched lights. What kind of LEDs are you using? If the spectrum changed, it might take them a bit to adjust. Give it a week before panicking.

Re: identifying pine cone scales on beta

No changes yet, still observing. Water params are: ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 5 ppm. And yes, my tank is fully cycled, no tank mates.

Re: Feeling defeated and considering giving up

I'm back, and it's not good. I'm on the verge of giving up my tank, my hobby, and saying goodbye to my beloved Grosso. It's been a nightmare – a complete tank meltdown in just 12 hours. I'm at a loss, and I'm not sure where to turn.

Re: Feeling defeated and considering giving up

Don't give up on Grosso just yet. I've found betta fish to be pretty resilient.

One thing that crossed my mind - is the lava rock you used for the air stone sharp? It's possible he might have scratched himself on it, which could be contributing to his condition.

I also think it's worth ...

Re: Growing brazilian pennywort submersed: is it possible?

Give it a shot. Found a couple of YouTube videos on it growing submerged with Co2, but I don't use that stuff - just plenty of sunlight and regular doses of ferts and micros. I did try cutting a stem, sticking the bottom in water and the top in the tank. It was a new addition, looking great, and ...

Re: I received a beta version

I finally got my betta, a dumb ear male, and I've been calling him Stevie by accident, really. My sister thought I was naming him that when I said he's released as I put him in the tank. He looks pretty regal, I think.

Re: importing betta from thailand

I've got a concern with the way he's marking those Betta cups - not exactly my cup of tea. Thing is, Betta cups aren't the best anyway, but the lower ones, they don't have easy access to air, you know?

I really enjoyed the photos, thank you for sharing. There's a particular betta at my local ...

Re: importing betta from thailand

I'm having a bit of trouble understanding the operation here. Is he breeding these bettas, selling them to stores, or both? Maybe they came in from Thailand in those cups? I did notice some of them are in tanks with individual sponge filters, which I think is a nice touch.

Re: Growing christmas moss: tips and advice

@florap, I didn't mean to freak you out I'm just a bit paranoid about superglue, wire and all that jazz. I thought I'd float my Christmas Moss till I get some tomorrow, but it fell apart instead. I'm worried the fish might think it's food and get unwell. I think I overreacted a bit, and the moss ...
