Re: Identifying these coral specimens

Appears to be some sort of crustacean, possibly a type of copepod. Considering you've had them show up after the Coral RX treatment, it's likely they're opportunistic. You got any wrasse in the tank that could help control the population?

Re: Mounting acan balls on sand or rocks

I'd mount it on a rock. The sand can be pretty harsh, I've lost polyps on the edge of a colony before when it was on the sand, don't want to see that happen again.

Re: Torch coral decline: causes and solutions

Torch corals aren't exactly light-hungry, but excessive flow can definitely be a problem. I'd also recommend moving it to a lower position.

Re: Hammer coral showing skeleton

Thanks for the input, my own experience with walls hasn't been great either, which is why I asked in the first place. I think I'm gonna stick with branching from now on, plus I'll make sure to get non-wild ones.

Re: Hammer coral showing skeleton

General questions on Euphyllia - once any head begins to show tissue separation, is that the beginning of the end? I've had my share of struggles with these corals and I'm curious if anyone's been able to save a detaching head and nurse it back to health.

Re: considering sargassum

To be honest, if I'm being totally upfront, the only invert I'm really worried about is the Antler crab - I think he'd be more likely to go for the shrimps, so if I get the Sargassum Trigger small enough, I'm pretty sure he'll be alright.

Re: considering sargassum

Sort of like having a beautiful angel in the tank, but with the potential for a Coflakes mess, I suppose.

considering sargassum

Still torn about the Sargassum Trigger, been going back and forth for days now. I mean, they're gorgeous and supposed to be reef safe, no issues with inverts, but it's a trigger, you know. Guess I'm just worried about the what-ifs.

Re: is my blue tang doing poorly?

A Blue Tang, more than likely a Regal, is way out of its depth in a 250L tank. I'm not surprised it's stressed, Seffie's right, and I'd be shocked if it didn't have whitespot. These fish need space, at least 5-6ft of tank to be happy. A 250L is just too small, not just for a Regal Tang, but for any ...

Re: acquiring copepods for mandarin fish

I've bought from Reefworks before, they're alright. No problems with my order.
