Is hunger the only factor in feeling full?
I've had these fish for less than a week, so I'm still getting to know their anatomy. There's this one thing that's caught my attention - a darker patch along the bottom of their bodies. It's possible they're just full from their last meal a few hours ago. I'm not sure, so I thought I'd check in and ...

Re: Finding great fish shops in the netherlands: favourite stores and aquatic sections
I came across this aquarium store in Hilversum, it's a bit of a trek from Haarlem, but it looks incredible - address is Havenstraat 58A, 1211 KM Hilversum.
I've checked out the video and their website, it looks absolutely fantastic. If I can make it work, I'd definitely go.
Thanks for the ...

Finding great fish shops in the netherlands: favourite stores and aquatic sections
Just a heads up, I'm on holiday with my family till early Friday morning and I might squeeze in a visit to a Dutch LFS if I get the chance. We're based in Haarlem but we'll be doing some traveling to places like Leiden and Amsterdam in the afternoons, so I don't mind going a bit out of my way.
As I ...

Re: Can i identify these as hengeli or espei rasboras?
I'm 100% with angelica, those are hengeli rasboras you've got there. I've had both species in my tank and I've had hengeli since September, so I'm pretty familiar with them by now. Never seen my hengeli spawn or show any spawning behavior, but my espei rasboras did that for the first time today. One ...

Corydoras catfish and sand sticking issues
I've been thinking, and I reckon this could be the reason behind the flicking my corydoras have been doing since I got them. Perhaps their slime coat is the issue, and that's why the sand is sticking to them.

Are resin balls in root tabs problematic for sand sifter fish or substrate dwellers?
I'm considering using Tropica root tabs for my 280L tank, which has a sand substrate to cater to substrate dwellers and fish that forage through the sand for food. I'd like to confirm whether using these root tabs alongside the resin balls could potentially cause issues if they reach the surface ...

Breaking news in the world of rebe
I've been holding off on sharing this until I had the tank in my possession. I've had my planted 105L and 54L QT for a while now, but I recently stumbled upon an incredible deal that I just couldn't pass up. I'm excited to say that I've finally filled the last available space in my room - no more ...

Re: Best live foods for kuhlii loaches
I decided to dive into what kuhlii loaches eat in the wild, hoping to find some inspiration for live foods that would work for them. Unfortunately, there's a surprising lack of studies on this topic. The best I could find was a mention of "insect larvae" as a food source.
I did stumble upon some ...

Best live foods for kuhlii loaches
I've been having a blast with live foods lately, and I've been pretty successful in growing them too. I've got a setup for Moina and Lumbriculus variegatus (blackworms) that's working really well. It's a simple plastic tub, maybe 10 litres or so, with some substrate, floating plants, and an airstone ...
