Is tanganyika compatible with other size options

Post by knightx »

I'm setting up my 30 gallon tank as a Tang tank and considering the following fish:

- Neolamprologus similis (4)
- Black calvus (2-3)
- Lamprologus ocellatus (2-3)
- Neolamprologus caudopunctatus (4)

Will this combination cause too much aggression and stress in the tank? I've read that the similis might get pushed around, so maybe I should leave them out. The tank's currently set up with a hanging filter, a heater at 76 F, pH between 8 and 9, sand substrate with snail shells, and an unpolished conch shell for the bristlenose pleco. If it might work with three of the four, I'd like to try the similis, calvus, and caudo.

I think you're taking a risk with that mix of fish. The lamprologus and neolamprologus are gonna stress each other out big time. Honestly, I'd stick to just one species, it's safer that way. Those calvus need some serious space, a 50-gallon tank is the minimum for them.
