Saturday morning surprise

Post by Luckyo »

Just fed my big Marlboros in the 75g tank, they're doing great, over 6.5" now. I've got 2 of them in there with 4 ABN from Liz. Was surprised to see a bunch of babies clinging to the glass. Should I just leave them be or try to catch them and move to a smaller tank? Liz, what's your take, will they make it or become a snack? The cave is packed with them.

I'd recommend relocating the babies, along with dad if he's still with them in the cave. Discus love snacking on tiny baby BNs - it's like their favorite treat. If the Discus catch wind of the babies, it's game over for sure.

Got them isolated in a breeder box now, all the babies from the cave, no dad - almost lost him though. He made a huge leap and landed on the floor, but managed to get him back in the tank. What's the best food for them at this stage?

I've given them BB's for the time being - I do have some golden pearls and spirulina powder on hand, might consider switching them over soon, but for now, BB's seem to be working just fine.

They'll take in any sinking dry food at this size.

At this size, they'll eat any dry food that sinks.

The BBs will settle at the bottom, and they'll all spread out eating them.

I think they're really cute, not ugly at all.

A lot of people think their ugly but I think they're just adorable.

These ABN are really something, I love the long fins. Managed to get 10 more from the 75g, still searching - some are hiding in the mopani wood. Anyone know the average spawn size? I've got around 50+ in the breeder box so far.
