Post by condoKeeper »

I'm trying to figure out what type of krib I've got here - anyone able to help me identify it

Difficult to determine with certainty from that image, but given you obtained it as 'kribensis', it likely is P. pulcher.

Pelvicachromis drachenfelsi, Pelvicachromis kribensis, Pelvicachromis pulcher, Pelvicachromis roloffi, Pelvicachromis sacrimontis, Pelvicachromis silviae, Pelvicachromis subocellatus, Pelvicachromis taeniatus - that's the kribensis/Pelvicachromis group right there.

The common krib, P pulcher, is what we usually see, and due to an old mix-up by importers, it's often mistakenly called the kribensis - poor P kribensis, had its name hijacked. As someone who's kept and bred most of these fish, except sacrimontis, I can tell you that a nose shot just isn't enough. I'd need a clear photo of the fish's flank, showing its entire body, to even attempt an ID.

I'm not sure what to make of this, but I'll give it a shot. From the picture, I'm inclined to think it's a P. pulcher, given it was labeled as 'kribensis' when you got it.

I'm inclined to agree that's a pulcher female, the common krib, judging by the photo.

I'm not so sure about that, the fins look pretty male to me, unless that's just the gravel playing tricks on us.
