My trip to Chicago

Post by Jumper »

The past six months have been a challenge, so I figured I'd give myself a little Christmas treat. Had the chance to visit Miranda, and let me tell you, her place is something else - ducks, chickens, koi pond, duck pond, a gorgeous greenhouse, and a fishroom, all right in the heart of Chicago. I ended up bringing home some real gems. Fingers crossed they'll be part of a breeding program soon.

Re: My trip to Chicago

Those are some stunning fish, Brian. I'm glad you treated yourself to a nice visit and came back with some great additions. I live in Eastern Iowa, which is about 2.5 hours west of Chicago, so it's possible you drove right past my area on your way to the city. Of course, that depends on where you're coming from - if you were driving from the south or east, you wouldn't have passed through here. Either way, I'm sure those fish will make some beautiful babies when the time comes.

I'm in the Kansas City area, and I recall taking I-35 to I-80 east. The drive to Chicago was pretty intense - icy roads, accidents all over, and sub-zero temps had me white-knuckling the steering wheel. In contrast, the drive home was a breeze.

Re: My trip to Chicago

We're pretty close, about 30 miles north of I-80, so you must've passed right by. I didn't even think about the weather when I was responding earlier - you guys really picked a tough time to make the trip.
I mean, 50 mph winds, blowing snow, and windchills down to -35? That's just crazy. I'm really glad you made it safely, though - that's the important part.

Those beauties were definitely worth braving the icy roads for, Brian. I'm excited to see how they'll do in your care and hopefully contribute to a breeding program soon.

So nice to hear about your new additions. Good luck with them. Mine are thriving, growth is rapid, and spawning is regular.

They're doing fantastic. Still in QT, but I'm excited to report that the LSS's have paired up. I'll get some photos posted later.

Planning on raising fry from these beauties. Any chance you'll be shipping some of the babies if all goes well with the breeding program?
