Is Petco's herbal parasite remedy safe for corys?

Post by Riverman »

I've been dealing with some parasites in my Corydoras tank and saw Petco's herbal remedy. Anyone know if it's safe for them? My tank's a 20-gallon long, sand substrate, planted with Java Fern and Anubias. Water params are good, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 10 nitrate. Temp's at 76F.

I'd be careful with that stuff. Herbal meds can be sketchy, especially for bottom dwellers like corys. What's the active ingredient? My 29-gallon has a group of Sterbais, and I've had better luck with Prazipro. They're sensitive to meds, so I always cut the dose in half.

I don't know about Petco's remedy. My corys died last month after using a similar product. Tank was 15 gallons, sponge filter, no plants. Water changes every week. Maybe it was the meds.

Yep, Prazipro's a solid choice. I've used it in my 40-gallon with Pygmy Corys and had no issues. Sand substrate, lots of driftwood, and a canister filter. Just make sure you're not overdoing it with the meds.

My corys are fine with herbal meds. I used it in a 10-gallon tank, gravel substrate, no plants. Water changes twice a week. They're still alive.

I don't trust herbal stuff. My corys got sick after using it. Tank is 20 gallons, sand, no plants. Filter is a HOB. Water changes every week.

Gonna chime in here—herbal remedies can be hit or miss. My Bronze Corys in a 30-gallon with a sponge filter and sand substrate did okay with it, but I'd still recommend sticking to proven meds like Prazipro or Metroplex. Less risk that way.

I've never used Petco's remedy, but my corys are doing great with just clean water. 25-gallon tank, sand, lots of plants. Weekly water changes, and they're thriving.

Herbal meds are a weird vibe, man. My corys are in a 55-gallon, sand substrate, canister filter. I stick to the basics—clean water and good food. No meds unless it's absolutely necessary.

Thanks for the input, everyone. I'll probably skip the herbal stuff and go with Prazipro. Appreciate the advice.
