options for my jewel cichlids

Post by ironviking4 »

My centerpiece tank is five feet long and four feet deep, housing a pair of jewel cichlids, two striped Raphael catfishes, and a juvenile sailfin pleco. All the inhabitants get along, but the tank feels somewhat inactive. I'm considering adding a robust New World cichlid, like an oscar or severum, to liven things up. Would an oscar peacefully coexist with my current fish in the long run?

I'd personally recommend Severums, they're fantastic with Jewels. I've had great experiences with them, they're very compatible. I recall having a 250-liter tank where my Severums spawned multiple times and successfully raised a few young ones. When I eventually sold the setup, there were 30 Severums, along with the two Jewel Cichlids you can see in the photo.

I'd add Severums, they're great with Jewels.

This is mum, dad and the kids. Had a 250 liter tank, Severums spawned multiple times, always managed to raise a few. Sold the set up, had 30 Severums plus the two Jewel Cichlids you can see in the photo.
