is this filter suitable for long-term use?

Post by daxilix »

I've got a used 55g setup with an Aqua-Tech 30-60 filter, but I'm looking to turn it into a mbuna tank. Thing is, I know this filter won't cut it on its own, so I'm thinking of getting a second one. Now I'm wondering if I can keep this one as a backup or if it's better to just get rid of it and buy two new ones.

If I do decide to keep it, are there any filters out there that could handle the extra load? Any suggestions would be great, thanks.

You could definitely run that Aqua-Tech as a sidekick if you pair it with a good canister filter. If you're looking for another hang-on-back option, you'd need a pretty large one to handle the extra load.
