capturing the elusive maroon clown

Post by lunar9 »

I'm trying to catch a Maroon Clown and I'm stuck. I know I shouldn't use a net because of their cheekspine - that's a big no-no. Can someone please help me out?

Try using a bag or a container, or you could even use a fish trap.

I'll be honest, catching fish in an established reef can be super tough, unless your tank is pretty bare.

I've found that using a trap works pretty well. Leaving it in the tank for a few days, feeding through the trap, and being patient is key. Most fish can be caught this way if you're willing to wait.

I'm not sure how effective a fish trap would be for bigger fish, I've heard it can be a struggle to catch them with one.

That depends on the size of the trap, if it's big enough, you're good to go. I've caught fish that were literally squeezing in.
