what plants work with angelfish?

I've got a 55 gallon tank with a pair of angelfish and wanna add some plants. What's gonna work best with them? I've heard they can be rough on certain types.

Angelfish can mess with delicate plants, but hardy stuff like Amazon Swords or Java Ferns usually hold up. My angels leave my Anubias alone too. Just avoid anything too soft like Cabomba.

I tried Water Wisteria with mine and they shredded it. Maybe stick to tougher plants like the ones wade mentioned.

My angels are chill with Java Moss. It's kinda hard to kill, and they don't bother it. Plus, it's great for fry if you're planning to breed them.

Yep, second this. My Amazon Swords are thriving with my angels, and they're not picky about lighting either.

If you're gonna plant, make sure your substrate is deep enough for roots. Amazon Swords need at least 3 inches. Also, angels prefer slightly acidic water, so keep that in mind with your plant choices.

I've had luck with Cryptocorynes. They're tough and my angels don't mess with 'em. Just don't move 'em around too much, they hate that.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. Gonna start with Java Fern and Anubias and see how it goes.

Vallisneria is another good option. It grows fast and can handle a bit of nibbling.

My angels ignored the Hornwort I added. It's not the prettiest, but it's functional.
