about clown fish

Post by daxler »

I've had my cinnamon clown for 6 years, and I'm thinking of introducing a partner to the tank. I'm a bit concerned it might be too late, but I wanted to get some opinions. The anemone is pretty large, so it could easily host two clowns - do you think it's worth a shot or should I just leave things as they are?

Honestly, your best shot would be when you upgrade to that 300g tank. Even then, you'd need to bring in a male or a young clown to avoid any territorial issues.

it's definitely a gamble, but i can attest it's doable - i took the plunge when i upgraded my tank, adding another occelaris, and to my surprise, they were swimming together in harmony almost instantly

Honestly, I'm skeptical about this working out. My Cin. Clown's been running the show in my 75 for 2 years now. Generally, he's cool with the other fish, but when he gets territorial, watch out - he'll chase them all off. If the pairing isn't spot on, you might end up with a deceased clown on your hands.

Appreciate the honesty from everyone, I don't think I'm willing to take that risk and potentially harm a fish. Thanks for the feedback, it's been helpful.
