I've recently started keeping wild betta splendens again, thanks to a friend who's also quite knowledgeable on the subject - he's written a few aquaristic books, actually. I'm really enjoying the experience once more.

I've often found myself curious about their availability in the States. Are wild betta splendens commonly sold as "King betta" in popular pet store chains like Petco or Petsmart?

Honestly, I'm not aware of the terminology used in US chain stores, Lionest - I'm not American, by the way.

King bettas are essentially just larger Betta splendens. They've been bred specifically for their size, rather than any other unique characteristics.
