I made an error.
I made an error.
I had my female fin_tank in a community tank for a bit because her 5-gallon tank had a crack. She was chillin with 2 female neptunes and this one male, I'm pretty sure she thought he was a male betta or something, 'cause she started producing eggs. Now they're just sitting there, doing nothing. I read that fin_tanks getting egg bound is super rare, and they usually just absorb the eggs when they realize there's no male around, but that's not happening here. It's been at least two weeks and she's still full of eggs. I tried to help by getting a male, but the one I got was smaller than her, which was kinda stupid on my part, I know. I just need some advice on what to do next, lol.
Re: I made an error.
It's just one of those things, I guess. We've all been there at some point. Pick up the pieces and move forward, I suppose.
Re: I made an error.
She'll be alright. If the eggs are released, they'll likely get eaten, and if not, her body will probably take care of them. I'm not entirely sure about the absorption part, but either way, nothing bad will happen. Fish are surprisingly resilient, they can handle more than we think they can.

I'd suggest just letting her chill in the tank, stress-free, and nature'll take care of the rest.crunchie wrote: ↑Tue Mar 25, 2025 12:01 pm I had my female fin_tank in a community tank for a bit because her 5-gallon tank had a crack. She still has them, it's been weeks now and nothing's changed, I'm starting to get a bit worried that they're not going anywhere.Giggletons wrote: ↑Tue Mar 25, 2025 5:09 pmI'd suggest just letting her chill in the tank, stress-free, and nature'll take care of the rest.crunchie wrote: ↑Tue Mar 25, 2025 12:01 pm I had my female fin_tank in a community tank for a bit because her 5-gallon tank had a crack. She'll just absorb them or let them go when she's ready. Just let her chill and nature will take its course.crunchie wrote: ↑Tue Mar 25, 2025 12:01 pm I had my female fin_tank in a community tank for a bit because her 5-gallon tank had a crack. She's just chillin', waiting on a bubble nest, I guess.
