Chalice coral shedding its skin from the skeleton

Post by Nebula »

I've got a small frag (can't recall the name - it's green with pink eyes) that's got me stumped. The tissue is curling up and detaching from the skeleton, and I'm not sure what's causing it. Parameters all seem fine, and I've moved it around a bit, but it's always been in a low-flow area at the bottom of the tank. The issue's getting worse, though - the tissue itself looks healthy, but it's slowly lifting off the skeleton. I've tried searching online, but can't find much info on this specific problem. Has anyone else ever dealt with this?

You might want to check out this thread, I've had some corals do the same thing and unfortunately, once it starts, I've never been able to reverse it.

Had the same issue, low nutrients was the culprit in my case.
