Is my short tentacle plate coral splitting?

Post by Fable23 »

I've been observing a strange growth on my green short tentacle place coral, and I'm not sure what's going on. It looks like it might be splitting, but I'm not aware if that's something they can do. If not, then what is this weird growth I'm seeing?

Honestly, I'm not sure what's going on with your coral, but to me, it looks like it's struggling. I think I see some exposed skeleton, which isn't a good sign.

This coral's actually one of the few that made it through a tank crash a couple months back. Tank's back to normal now, and it's been eating fine - always got its tentacles out unless someone spooks it. Had just relocated it when that picture was taken, it was still settling in after being dug out from the sand.
