Got a new chalice in the tank for 3 days now and it's already showing some receding spots. Starting to get a bit worried it's gonna keep going that way. Tank levels are all good, within the ideal parameters, so I'm thinking it's probably a placement or flow issue.
First pic is where it's placed - center and low. 2nd pic is a closeup of the spots.
Chalice coral emergency
Re: Chalice coral emergency
Chalices can be quite delicate and recede quickly, especially since they don't have much to spare. Given your tank's conditions seem to be in check, and I'm assuming that's the case with all the coral you have in there, flow and lighting become crucial factors as you've pointed out. You've already got it in a low-light spot, so the next thing to consider is the flow hitting it - it's possible that's still causing issues.
Even when you do everything by the book, sometimes a coral just doesn't take to its new environment, or maybe it was already stressed when it came in. Either way, it's frustrating when you can't seem to get it comfortable in your tank.

I agree with what's been said. To add, shaded light and low flow might be worth trying. Sometimes these corals just need a bit of extra TLC to settle in.
Re: Chalice coral emergency
Gotta find a sweet spot for this chalice, or it's gonna be a quick decline. Thing is, not all chalices are created equal when it comes to light and flow - I've got some that thrive in the current, while others stress out in the same conditions.
