Mounting acan balls on sand or rocks

Post by Vizza »

Got a colony of acans from the store and it's already balled up. If I leave it on the sand, will it continue to grow or just stay like that. On the other hand, if I put it on a rock, do you think it'll spread out and cover the rock or just stick to its balled-up shape.

Watching this thread, interested in hearing how you handle the acan colony.

I'd mount it on a rock. The sand can be pretty harsh, I've lost polyps on the edge of a colony before when it was on the sand, don't want to see that happen again.

I'm also following along. I've got a similar setup with about a dozen heads on a rock, and some of them are actually touching the sand on the side.
