My hammer coral has turned green
I just dropped $100 on a "Yellow Hammer" that looked incredible in the dealer's tank - super bright, highlighter yellow. But under my lights, it's just green. I've got a mix of white and royal blue lights going on, so I'm guessing I'm missing something in the spectrum - maybe regular blue, violet, or UV is what's making the difference. Anyone have experience with this? Did the dealer pull a fast one by showcasing a regular green hammer under some fancy lighting?

I'm guessing they must've had a ton of blue LEDs in their tank, 'cause that would explain the crazy yellow color I saw.

The store didn't dupe you, different lighting setups can really change the way a coral's colors pop. And let's not forget, corals stress out during transport, so give it some time to settle into its new home. If this were an online purchase, I might suspect some funny business, but since you saw it in person, you know what you're working with and what it's capable of under the right lighting.

I've got mostly blue LEDs in my setup, same as the vendor's display.

Mine's green under regular lights, but I get that awesome yellow color when I switch to actinics.

I don't think the dealer was trying to trick you, especially since you saw the coral in person. Different lighting setups can really bring out different colors in corals, so it's probably just a matter of finding the right combination to make your Yellow Hammer pop.

I'm pretty sure the UV and violet LEDs are what made the difference in color. Those types of lighting can really make corals pop with different colors, especially the fluorescent ones.
