Creating a 3d background

Post by jolvy »

I've been eyeing custom 3D foam background walls for my 75-gallon African cichlid tank, but all the tutorials I've seen install them before the tank is set up using silicone. The problem is, my tank is already established. Does anyone know of an aquarium-safe underwater adhesive that could work for this? Or maybe someone has a different approach? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Aquadecor's 3D backgrounds now use magnets for installation, I came across this while browsing. The Cichlid bros on youtube have recently fitted one to their African Cichlid tank, it seemed to work well for them.

You could consider attaching magnets to the back of your custom background using silicone, then connect them to the corresponding magnets on the other side of the glass.
