Is the niger trigger related to cbs?

Post by tunnel9 »

I've been doing some research on Niger Triggers and I'm still on the fence about housing one with a Coflake Banded Shrimp. There seems to be a lot of conflicting info out there about whether or not these Triggers will go after inverts. Has anyone here had any firsthand experience keeping these two species together?

If you've raised the Niger from a juvenile, it's possible it might coexist. However, there's still an inherent risk involved, and you'd have to be prepared to accept that.

I kept a medium-sized Niger Trigger with cleaner shrimp for a few months and never saw it show any interest in them. Honestly, they tend to leave most inverts on the substrate alone, sponges being the exception.

I really appreciate the input. I've had my eye on a Niger Trigger at my local fish store for a bit now, and he seems like a great catch - active, yet really calm. I think I've found the one I want. Thanks again for sharing your experiences.
