Keeping kribensis as pets
I've had my male and female kribensis for a couple of weeks now and was hoping to breed them. I've always fancied giving kribs a go, and it seems like they've paired up nicely in the tank. They've even dug a burrow right down to the bottom by the cave. There are a few other burrows scattered around, but I still can't find any eggs - any ideas what I might be doing wrong?
Re: Keeping kribensis as pets
I've had the pleasure of keeping Kribensis for years now, and I've been fortunate enough to have had plenty of young from them. If your pair has already paired up, just give them some space and let nature take its course. They'll know exactly when to lay eggs and take care of the fry, moving them around the tank as needed. My advice would be to avoid disturbing the gravel, especially if you're looking for eggs or young - you don't want to accidentally bury them. I've always had great success with Terracotta Caves, you can pick them up for under a tenner, or even use a Terracotta Plant Pot. I've found that Terracotta seems to work best, but at the end of the day, it's all about what works for you and your fish. Good luck with your pair, there's nothing quite like the excitement of the first brood of young.
