finding a trustworthy betta supplier
finding a trustworthy betta supplier
I'm on the hunt for a reliable fish farm that imports top-notch Bettas to the UK. I've been blown away by the stunning fish I've seen on Facebook from the Far East, and I've finally mustered up the courage to take the plunge and buy one. However, I'm a bit apprehensive about getting ripped off, especially since I'd be purchasing through Facebook. Can anyone recommend a trustworthy seller or importer who can deliver high-quality fish without any hassle?
Re: finding a trustworthy betta supplier
When buying online, you miss out on seeing the fish's behaviour, which is a major factor for me. I've always prioritised personality over appearance.
I recently got my bettas from Maidenhead Aquatics. My previous one was a stunning peach half moon, and my current betta has an amazing orange and light blue iridescence. They had some fantastic varieties when I last visited, including seveflake elephant ears, a striking red double tail with dark blue edges, a beautiful black and white marble, and a pale orange with see-through fins. The orange one with light blue stood out for its personality, which is why I chose him.
It's worth noting that Maidenhead Aquatics branches can vary significantly. My local one keeps their bettas in smaller tanks with a rack filtration system, which is where I got my current betta. Another nearby branch had limited stock, mostly blue veiltails, and the bettas looked a bit worse for wear.
Before exploring breeders, I'd recommend visiting the Maidenhead Aquatics in your area to see what they have in stock.

Same here, I've always found that personality shines through more than looks.
