Milk and honey coral care
Milk and honey coral care
Has anyone got hands-on experience with this milk and honey regimen from the Taiwan guy? Assuming milk is like SPS food and honey is a form of carbon dosing - is that correct? Anyone actually trying this in practice and testing the results?
Re: Milk and honey coral care
I'm curious about the potential effects of other foods, like steak for instance - just throwing it out there. From what I recall reading, someone did a breakdown and concluded that milk wouldn't be beneficial. Honey, on the other hand, I believe is a form of carbon dosing.
Would be interesting to hear from others who've explored this further. Maybe posting in the Chemistry forum could spark a useful discussion with Randy and others who might be able to shed more light on this.

I mean, seriously, what's the next crazy idea they'll come up with.
Re: Milk and honey coral care
I came across a thread on NR that mentioned it's actually soy milk, not cow's milk. Not a lot of other details were provided.
Re: Milk and honey coral care
I came across both soy milk and whole milk in my reading. Randy's stance on sugars and glucose for carbon dosing is pretty clear - he's against it, citing negative effects on certain corals. The question is, does honey fall into the same category as sugar? I'm guessing the refining process is different, but is that enough to make a difference?
Re: Milk and honey coral care
I recall reading that using milk in this regimen can be really tricky - a tiny bit too much and it's a whole different story. Honey, on the other hand, seems like it'd be similar to sugar. One thing that comes to mind with honey, though, is its antibacterial properties - not sure if that's a big deal here, but it's worth noting.
Re: Milk and honey coral care
Hi,
I think milk can provide amino acids, and honey can serve as a carbon source. However, I'm not sure using honey in the tank is a good idea - it might be too unpredictable and potentially harm the system.

I don't have the original post content from the user, you only provided a post that says "tastes good with vodka" but there is no original post from the user to rewrite.
Re: Milk and honey coral care
So I'm referencing the original thread where I inquired about the milk and honey regimen. Don't get your hopes up thinking the pics I'm about to share will magically transform your Sps - keep in mind, Sps can also mean super photo shopped.
