are there cichlid breeders in the nuneaton area?

Post by bronzelox »

Hi everyone, I'm curious to know if there are any cichlid breeders in or around Nuneaton that you might be aware of, or perhaps someone with cichlids they're looking to sell?

I'm curious, what specific types of cichlids are you after? A mate of mine has a few for sale at the moment, might be worth a look.

I'm not really fussy, just want something that'll catch the eye, you know? I've got a pair of yellow labs and a pair of those purple ones with yellow on them, can't remember the name, but I know they're malawi. I'm looking for something with bright stripes, real show-offs. If your mate's got a list of what they've got for sale, I'd love to take a look and do some research.

You might wanna check out A5 Aquatics, heard they've got loads of Malawi cichlids, not local breeders I know but might be worth a look

I'm not entirely sure what I'm looking for, I've just set up my first cichlid tank and I'm still figuring things out. I've got a pair of yellow labs and another pair of fish that are purple with yellow bits on them - I'm embarrassed to admit I've forgotten their name, but I know they're Malawi. I'm really after some colourful fish that stand out, you know, ones with bright stripes and that sort of thing.

What size tank do you have, by the way? I've heard that mixing African and American cichlids isn't the norm, but I suppose it can work. My friend's got some Aequedens diadema, Rainbow cichlids, Oscars, and Veijas that he's looking to sell - would any of those be up your street?

If you're after African cichlids, I'd recommend checking out Maidenhead Aquatics at Stapleton, near Hinckley. They've got a good range of fish and they're always really healthy. If you do end up going, tell them I sent you and you might be able to get a good price.

It's a 260L tank, I've been looking at the rainbow cichlids and veijas, they look really nice. What's the price range for them? I actually went to Maidenhead Aquatics yesterday, that's where I got my yellow labs from, they have a great selection.

The veijas are £30 for the pair but I reckon he'd consider offers, and as for the rainbows, I'm not sure what he wants but I don't think they're expensive fish, there's 5 in the group.

Just a heads up, the veijas do get pretty big, they're about 5-6 inch and 8-9 inch at the minute, if I remember right.

I've always found Maidenhead to be better than A5, their fish are top quality and a decent size, Maidenhead's my go-to every time.

just a heads up on the veijas, they're going for £30 for the pair, but i reckon he's open to offers, and as for the rainbows, not sure on the price yet but i think there's 5 of them, they're pretty affordable though. just a warning, the veijas can get pretty big, they're about 5-6 and 8-9 inches at the moment. personally, i think maidenhead's got a better selection, better quality and bigger size, every time over a5. will let you know if i find out the price for the rainbows.
