So when people say they're getting a pure cichlid tank, what's the idea behind that? I've always thought cichlids were kinda semi-aggressive, right? Can someone break it down for me - what does 'pure' even mean in this context?

People have and maintain tanks with cichlids from specific regions, like Lake Malawi for example. They'll only keep species native to that area, so their setup is considered pure, with all the correct species cohabiting. This way, they're recreating the natural environment of that region, which is pretty cool.
