Growing plants outside

I'm thinking of planting some stuff like hornwort and frog bit in my mom's planters outside. Would that work? Are there any specific requirements I need to meet for these plants? My mom said I can use her planters (pics below), but I want to make sure they'll be okay before I start planting. I don't want to put in a bunch of effort only to have them die off.
