I'm in the process of setting up a new 50-gallon tank (48"x12"x18") and I'm still deciding on the inhabitants. This tank will be my last until I own a house, so I want to try something different from my current setup. Blockheads seem like a good fit.
I've been looking into keeping them, but I'm unsure about housing them together. Many websites recommend keeping them in pairs, but I'm not interested in breeding and pairing can be frustrating. I've also seen people keeping them in groups of three, but I'm not sure if that's a common or recommended way to keep them. A trio or small group sounds interesting, but I'm worried about an unintentional pair forming and potential aggression towards each other.
Has anyone kept blockheads in a group setting and can share their experiences with their behavior around each other?
