need a name for my fish

Post by rivulet9 »

Alright, so I'm getting my 75 US ga tank and I've got my fish lined up...

Percula clown (Nemo)
Firtideflow (Smokie)
Pacific Blue Tang (Dori)
Yellow Tang (bloopiebles)
Yellowtailed Blue Damsel (??)

I need some name ideas for my Damsel, here's the lowdown.

He's the smallest of the bunch.
Always bullying Smokie.
Not intimidated by me at all (tried to nip at me once)
Gives me the stink-eye when I look at him.

I was thinking of something like Beelzebub, just kidding. I'll pick some of the good suggestions and ask my family what they think.

Honestly, I think you're gonna be pushing it with a tang in a 75, personally I wouldn't do it, but for the damsel, how about Onyx, sounds fitting for a little troublemaker.

LOL I'm gonna introduce the tangs together and keep a close eye on them. If things get ugly, the yellow tang's outta there - I've always wanted the blue one anyway.

As for that little Damsel, I'm not a fan, so when I upgrade tanks, Onix might just find a new home at the LFS.

Just stick with the blue, honestly your tank's a bit too cramped for the yellow anyway

Yeah, you're probably right...the blues at the store are small now, but they're gonna get huge. And the yellows, they're like half the size they'll be when they're full grown. So I'll just stick with the blue, ditch the onix, and grab a purple FF instead. Hopefully they won't fight, but I'm not too worried since FFs are super chill. Smokie's been picking on onix lately though, that's kinda funny.

How about Nelson or Chucky - the creepy doll one, not the Rugrats kid. I kinda like the name Onix though.

I'll probably ditch onix to make room for a male percula, my blue tang, and a new tomato clown.

I think I got it backwards, the Blue Tangs are actually the bigger ones, they can grow up to 1 foot, while the Yellow Tangs usually stay smaller, around 6 inches.

Yeah I've seen those huge blue tangs in person, they're massive. I'm actually thinking the yellow tang would be a better fit size-wise for smaller tanks.

I've done my research, every book and article I've read says a minimum of 75 gallons with smaller tankmates, and that's exactly what I'm planning. The other fish I've chosen are smaller, so I'm not too worried. I'm actually thinking of upgrading to a 90 gallon tank instead of the 75, we'll see. I know the blue tang is gonna get big, but my mom's set on having a "Dori" and I just want a tang, period. I might end up getting rid of some fish to make room, *cough* onix *cough*. I've been planning this tank for almost a year, so I'm pretty sure I know what I'm doing.
