Help with my orange torch coral
Help with my orange torch coral
I grabbed a green torch and an orange one at a local coral show last weekend - the tentacles on these guys are green under full light but take on this really cool orange hue under blue/moonlight. Both were fully extended in the displays. The green one's doing great, full tentacle extension from day 1 in my tank. The orange one, not so much - it's barely extending at all. I had it fairly low but central in my tank, which is a shallow (12") reef with moderate lighting (Current USA Orbit Marine LED). I moved it to a slightly lower spot with partial shade last night, thinking maybe it was getting too much light, but it hasn't made much difference. Do the orange variety need a lot of light? Should I move it up? Or is it more likely a flow issue? Flow in its current location is low-moderate.
Re: Help with my orange torch coral
mine's been doing well in low flow too, i've had it in a spot with pretty gentle current and it's been extending nicely, not sure if that's just a coincidence or if the orange variety really do prefer it, but it's worth a shot trying a lower flow area
