I'm curious about pairing a male perc with a female black and white clown. Would they be compatible, or is it a long shot?
Re: combining clown acts
It's possible to pair a male perc with a female black and white clown if they're both young, but mature fish generally don't get along. You can usually keep an orange ocellaris with a black and white ocellaris, though. I'm not a fan of cross-species pairing personally, but if you just want it for display purposes, then it might work.
If you're referring to a clarkii as the black and white clown, I'd advise against it.

No, I meant the Black Percula Clownfish as the black and white one. I was referring to this species in particular: Black Percula Clownfish.

The fish in the picture is actually a black Amphiprion ocellaris, originating from Darwin in the Northern Territory, Australia. It's essentially a black variation of the typical orange ocellaris, and can be kept with its orange counterpart.
They begin life with an orange hue and a few dark brown markings on the front of their body, gradually replacing the orange with black as they mature.
