I just revamped my tank over the weekend, switching from gravel to black diamond sand. Established plants are already thriving in the back, and I've added some new ones like rotalla that are still getting settled. I also attached some Vesicularia to the driftwood on the right using thread, hoping it'll take root.
I'm looking to start a carpet in the foreground and would appreciate some suggestions. I'm hoping to find a plant that's naturally short, so I won't have to spend too much time trimming it.
Here are some specifics about my 46g bowfront tank:
1) I'm running CO2.
2) I've got a Fluval 3.0 light set at 70% for most colors, but the blue is turned down to 30%. I recently bumped this up from 65% and 5 hours a day, but I've had issues with hair algae in the past, so I might need to dial it back.
3) Water temperature is around 78 degrees.
4) I use root tabs and dose with NilocG Thrive all-in-one.
5) The Fluval is about 18" above the sand at the front, sloping to 16" in the middle.
The bubbles are from the CO2, and I need to clean the glass with my scraper. Any suggestions on adjusting the lighting to control algae and still provide enough light for the plants would be great.
