Adding more amano shrimp

New Year, new possibilities.
I've got a 10-gallon tank with 6 amano shrimp that'll be 2 years old in March 2024.
Thinking of adding a few more amanos.
Two things on my mind:
1st - how will it affect my existing shrimp's health?
2nd - will my current shrimp welcome the new additions?
Those baby cherry shrimps are adorable, but I'm not ready to upgrade to a bigger tank just yet.

If you're dealing with a shrimp-only tank and adding the same variety, a good acclimation before release is all you need, no quarantining required. However, if you have fish in the tank, you're taking a risk as they can bring in unwanted crustacean diseases.

I supplement with algae wafers and occasionally some pellets, but mainly they live off the algae in the tank. I've never really considered a specific diet for them, just trying to provide a balanced environment.

I let mine forage for algae, biofilm, and any leftover food that's floating around.

I've found they're pretty low-maintenance when it comes to food. They'll just scavenge for whatever they can find.

I'm completely sold on these amanos now. I actually have a ten-gallon tank just sitting there, empty and waiting for its new inhabitants. I'm curious, BadgersSong, about your comment on something lacking in your water. I recall reading an article about amano shrimp in Tropical Fish Hobbyist, and it mentioned a shrimp water additive, but unfortunately, it didn't explain its purpose or composition. I'm wondering if it might have something to do with the minerals they need during molting. Do amano shrimp molt, by the way? Would using aquarium salt be a viable option, or is salt actually detrimental to their health?
