clownfish health issues

Post by dreamon7 »

I've got a percula with a pretty nasty bite taken out of his left pectoral fin, but despite that, he's acting completely normal - in fact, he's the one doing the bullying to the blue yellow tail in his tank. Given that he seems perfectly healthy, I'm assuming his fin will heal just fine over time, but I was wondering if there's anything I can add to his usual diet of chopped mysis, garlic juice, and marine flake to help speed up the process.

The garlic in his food is a great start, it'll definitely help keep his immune system in check and prevent any infections. I've used Stresscoat in the past for my freshwater fish when they've had fin damage or during transport, but I'm not aware of a saltwater equivalent - does anyone know if there's something similar available?

Selcon is probably the only supplement I'd suggest for him, might help with healing.

I'd like to throw out spirulina as an option. It's rich in nutrients and can help promote healing and overall health.

I'm considering adding a vitamin supplement to his diet, given the fin hasn't healed as quickly as I'd hoped. The current food mixture seems to be working well, but maybe a little extra boost is needed - Selcon was mentioned, I'll look into that. It's also crossed my mind that it could be a birth defect, but I'm hoping it's just a matter of time and nutrition.
