New Fish Food

Post by Finny »

New find for me, looks promising.
Got a lot of great stuff in it.
Will give you the fish's verdict soon.

Ordered yesterday, and they already printed the postage this morning - fast service, if you ask me.
We do things the same way in our company, too.

Has anyone else tried this before?

Mushrooms, now that's a great ingredient. Has to be a winner with that in the mix.

That's what I'm thinking - why mushrooms? I mean, fish don't exactly run into them in the wild, do they? Sounds like a marketing gimmick to me. Shrooms!

Why mushrooms? Fish never saw a mushroom in there life.
Marketing?

Depends on the fish, Jay. Some of us who keep fish and follow sports teams might just throw a slice of pizza in the tank on a Sunday if our team's not doing well. That pizza can bring some unusual food sources into the tank, like mushrooms.

Shrooms are probably in there for the vitamins and minerals. Decent food, looks like.

Did some research and found that mushrooms contain B vitamins which break down proteins, fats, and carbs to provide energy. That's perfect for discus, given they require high protein diets.

Re: New Fish Food

Update time. Got my new Royal Menu fish food in today. Impressed with the shipping - they got it out quick.

First impressions: granules are a bit smaller than I thought they'd be, especially since I ordered for large fish. Not that they're wrong or anything, just not what I expected. Keep in mind, I'm no expert here.

So, I gave it a try with my 8 discus. They'd only had a light breakfast, so they were good and hungry. At first, they totally ignored the food - even hid behind the driftwood. I told Nancy, "This'll give them something to snack on later." We watched TV for a bit, and when I checked on them later, the food was all gone.

The container was a nice size, lots of product inside - not like those potato chips that are all packaging and no chips. The food felt fresh, not too moist or too dry.

The fish seem to like it, so we'll be giving it to them every evening for a while. I think it was a good buy so far, and the fish seem to agree. Now I'm just waiting to see how much, ahem, "output" we get tomorrow.

First try, and I'm giving it a thumbs up.
