My betta breeding approach is pretty straightforward. I select a male and female that I think are a good match, then separate them for a few weeks to condition them with live foods. I'm not exactly a pro at breeding domesticated bettas, I've got zero hands-on experience with that.

Best of luck with the breeding. One thing I've come across is that the veiltail gene is dominant, so if one of the parents is a veiltail, all the offspring will be veiltail too. I'm curious to see your pair - would you mind posting some pictures?
